During this time of uncertainty, I’ve been holding on to the memories of past weddings and the hope of new future events to help keep us moving forward. From venues to vendors, a wedding day is full of big choices! While we wait for life to pick up again, if you are engaged and need some help with making those big choices, I am here for you!
After all of the choices have been made, I often find it’s the little details that mean the most to the couple. Though the DJ and the catering choices are definitely something to strategize, today we’re talking about how you can bring in some specific personal touches to make your wedding your own. After all, we hope you only get married once!

As you can probably guess, there are a million and one ways to personalize details that stand out on your big day. One of the easiest ways to do this is to think of something the guests will interact with, undoubtedly. This includes drinks, table settings, coasters for glasses, or even napkins. These simple items that may seem to get lost in the background can be leveled up by including a favorite quote or saying or customizing your napkins with your wedding date. These simple details will be noticed as guests enjoy their cocktails, and some may even be kept for the scrapbook. Just make sure your photographer knows about them so they can get some pretty shots!
Speaking of cocktails, consider having a signature drink for your guests to enjoy. Some fun entertainment at cocktail hour is also an option, whether it is a caricature artist, a magician, or passed hors’ oeuvres. The cocktail hour goes by very quickly, so don’t spend too much time or budget on this alone, but if it is something you can carry over to your reception such as including the drinks throughout the night, I highly recommend using this as an option. It is an easy and fun way to get your guests involved in your interests without expending too much more on additional details.
Another option that seems to really be trending right now is some custom art! What better way to begin a new life together than to have a neon sign with your married name or a live painting done of your wedding day to entertain your guests and then hang in your house to enjoy for many years after the wedding?! There are endless options to customize a perfect piece that not only matches the theme of your wedding but also can be cherished and remembered as a beautiful art piece in your home after the celebrations are over.
Guest books are another great opportunity to really customize your look and feel. If your theme is more organic, consider having each guest leave their fingerprint on a tree that you can frame after the event. If you really love jigsaw puzzles, have your guests each sign a piece and work on the puzzle for your first anniversary! There are no rules to your wedding these days and you can get creative to showcase what you really enjoy at your event.
If you really want to stand out, spend some time thinking about what hobbies and interests you share as a couple. Do you really love Star Wars? Include some lightsabers at the photobooth to liven things up! If you’re both really big dog lovers, consider having a treat bar for the pets as a favor station. Once again, there are tons of ways to customize and get creative. This is your wedding!
