Hi there love birds!
I hope Valentine’s day was full of sweet treats, loving moments, and lots of romance! As February winds down, I wanted to mix things up today and talk about a few things I do on a day-to-day basis. While we’ve gone over before what I can do for you during your wedding planning, I wanted to go over what my days look like when I’m NOT running from your ceremony space to your venue space on your wedding weekend!
Morning: Typically, I start my day with a good breakfast (I LOVE breakfast foods!) and a quick review of my to-do list. As a planning-type of person, I find I’m most successful if I have all of my tasks written down for the day. Once this has been gone over, I check on emails. Emails are an integral part of most jobs today and as a wedding planner, it’s my main line of communication with wedding professionals and couples! As long as nothing is urgent, sometimes if I have a (now-Zoom) networking event or meeting to get to. I can reply to those non-urgent emails later in the morning. If no meetings are on the agenda, I start from the bottom and work my way up, paying special attention to those “urgent” or “pending” items. This could be anything from a check-in with one of my brides (did you pick up your shoes for your final fitting on Thursday?!) to finalizing the florals for this weekend’s vows.
Afternoon: You’ll usually find me at a final walk-through if it’s later on in the week (a service I provide to ensure your venue is up to speed on all things needed for your big day!). If it’s a little earlier on in the week, I am probably working on timelines, tracking client budgets, making vendor calls or appointments for my couples, or catching a fabulous webinar that helps me to continue to grow Events by Lexi and serve wonderful couples! As 5pm rolls around, my clients are generally more available as their workdays have ended and any final questions that did not get answered in email form get answered around this time before I end my day at the office.
Evening: Most of the time, I reserve this time for family, friends, church, and any social obligations or hobbies I enjoy. To relax, I love reading and crocheting and find that quality time is so necessary – especially when you work nights most weekends! I do have client meet-ups here and there, after hours as most clients work a traditional 9-5 (if there’s such a thing anymore?!), so they need some weeknight availability!
Bedtime: If it’s closer to the weekend, you can probably find me wrapping up any double-checks on any lists for clients, timelines for weddings, or vendor contact sheets. When you own your own business, it’s definitely important to try to keep work and home life separate, but on Thursday and Friday evenings before a wedding, you can find me stuck to the details ensuring everything is perfect moving into Saturday (or Sunday) morning. What can I say? I love the details!
While this schedule may seem stressful or a little overwhelming to you, I wouldn’t change it for the world! Being able to watch so many sweet and wonderful couples start their lives together is one of my greatest joys and while I do stay busy – the reward is always more enticing.
If you’re recently engaged and looking for a planner, I would enjoy learning more about you and your spouse-to-be! I genuinely love what I do, and I would love to show you all about what I can do for your big day.
Thanks for reading! See you next time!
