Back again, friends, and we’re talking about something familiar today. I know we’ve discussed hiring the perfect photographer for your wedding day, and today we will go over what questions to ask your videographer prior to hiring them.
Many couples choose to hire a videographer – because, well, photos are beautiful to have – but there’s nothing like seeing your friends and family on video, and the keepsake can be something really special for years and years (ie., your grandfather’s moves on the dance floor!).
First and foremost, as with any wedding professional, you’ll want to make sure that they have your wedding date available. There is no use in discussing much more if they don’t offer your wedding date as an option.
Once you’ve gotten the wedding date out of the way, you can begin to collect questions for your consultation with them. You can find out how long they’ve been working in their industry and how many weddings they’ve done. Typically, wedding professionals are pretty tight knit and tend to know one another, so you can also ask if they know any other videographers in the area and this can sometimes lead you to finding your photographer as well.
From there, you’ll want to talk about style. Like any photographer, your videographer will also have a certain look they like to provide when focusing in on your wedding. If you prefer light and airy to dark and dreamy, just be sure to point this out to them during your consultation – or even research on your own prior to contacting them.
Another important thing to cover will be what to expect when working with them. Are you looking for specific shots or are you trusting them completely to get the best angles and scenes from your wedding? This is something that can make or break your partnership as you do want to ensure that you are getting exactly what you’re looking for. Some professionals feel best when they’re able to work freely while others are happy to consider particular poses and scenes, so it’s definitely a great conversation to have prior to hiring someone.
I hope these tips will help you determine exactly what videographer is right for you and ultimately help you hire the perfect professional.
As mentioned before, if you need a little extra help, I happen to know some very talented videographers myself that can help make your wedding day everything you’d like it to be. Call me today at 410-978-2048 to set up your consultation and go over your options. I can’t wait to hear from you!
