The summer is in full swing, but we as planners can’t help but look toward the next season. Flannels, pumpkin spice and everything fall has to offer will be here before you know it. If you are planning a fall wedding, we have some tips and tricks to make them your own! Let’s dive in.
One of the easiest ways to complement a fall wedding is to remember the season of course! Cozy blankets and outdoor fires are popular this time of year, so focusing on a cozy and comfy aesthetic can be an easy option for fall weddings. In the past, I have had clients provide flannel shrugs for their guests during cocktail hour or host a s’mores bar for their dessert. Simple additions like this can really make an impact on your wedding day and do not take an incredible amount of effort to pull off.
Another easy option is to showcase the fall season in your menu. Apples, pumpkin, warm chutneys, and cozy comfort food can be a great way to really embrace the fall festivities. Your guests will feel incredibly comforted by the seasonal menu, and you can showcase some of your favorite menu items to go along with your perfect day. Along with the dinner menu, you can also focus on fall flavors for your wedding cake like cinnamon, chocolate, or caramel!
Since the day will be cooler than summer or spring, you can also consider a dress with long sleeves or add an additional jacket to your attire. Many brides I’ve worked with have opted for shrugs or even jean jackets customized with their new last name. It’s important to remember to make this your own and enjoy the process. While we’re on the subject, please remember that if you’re wearing a jacket, your bridesmaids will probably be cold as well. It’s important to dress them and the groomsmen for the weather so they can be comfortable spending time outdoors and taking photos by your side while also staying fashionably acceptable to your dress code.
As for decor, you can always choose a deep pallet and accent with metallics or warm oranges and reds. Fall colors are notoriously rich and can make a huge impact on the wedding of your dreams. Not to mention, mother earth provides a natural backdrop with fall foliage being the perfect option for outdoor wedding photos.
Another great option is to serve a hot specialty beverage to help keep your guests warm. This can really be something special as your guests are probably not expecting a warm beverage at the cocktail hour. Rustic details are also a great option to showcase the season with seasonal florals, haybales, or somewhat low-key wedding decorations like apples or oranges placed generously throughout the reception.
As you can see, there are many, many different options for a beautiful cozy wedding in the fall. Whether you choose an outdoor space or go with an indoor cozy wonderland, being creative and paying attention to details can truly turn this season into a spectacle!!
If you need further assistance or help of any kind, I’m here for you! Let’s make this a wedding to remember.
