Each year, I ask some of my couples from the year prior to share some advice/tips and memories from their wedding, so those of you reading this may get some ideas for your wedding!!
Grace & Joe, who were married at The American Visionary Arts Museum, were asked these two questions:
What wedding planning advice do you have to pass along to future Events by Lexi couples?
- Listen to Lexi! She knows what she’s doing.
- Be a guest at your own party.
- Throughout the planning process, we recognized that to be good hosts, we would have to devote time and energy to traditional elements of the wedding weekend. However, we made sure to give extra attention to the things that were important to us.
Does either of you have a favorite memory (or two) from your wedding celebration that you’d like to share?
We had a Jewish wedding, and we hired a local rabbi to officiate. When it came time for the glass breaking, a tradition at many Jewish weddings, Joe got excited and prepared to smash the glass before the rabbi actually gave the cue. He stopped himself short, but it was a funny moment that added to the joy of our ceremony.
Grace dreaded the wedding-planning process. She didn’t like the attention that came along with being a bride and the pressure of others’ expectations. But by the time our wedding weekend came around, she was overjoyed and could not stop smiling from Thursday to Sunday. That alone made the entire planning experience worth it.
The people we love most in the world were in the same room together, smiling and celebrating. We may never experience that again.
We hired The Bachelor Boys Band to provide the music for our ceremony and reception, which turned out to be a fantastic choice! Our guests barely left the dance floor the entire night.
Amy & Ben, who were married at The Baltimore Museum of Industry, were also asked those same two questions:
What wedding planning advice do you have to pass along to future Events by Lexi couples?
Book your vendors early and do your research — it’s worth the time to find the right vendors that align with your vision. We found that a good rule of thumb is to explore at least 3 options before making a decision. Read the contracts and don’t be afraid to ask questions! Once we had great vendors in place, we were able to really enjoy the planning process, not sweat the small stuff, and trust the experience of our team.
Does either of you have a favorite memory (or two) from your wedding celebration that you’d like to share?
We’ll never forget the feeling of having all our friends and family in one place. Looking around the dance floor and seeing our guests from all over the world celebrating with us and dancing with each other made us feel so loved. The entire day was so incredibly special!
Hopefully, these nuggets of information give you something to think about as you plan your wedding!
