2018 was a year of firsts! My first wedding juggling two full-time active military service personnel, my first wedding with Iranian traditions included, my first wedding with TEN bridesmaids and groomsmen, and one of our long-time friends (I’ve known her parents for over 20 years) getting married as well! What a year! Below is a recap of all “firsts” for Events by Lexi – and a list of 2019 upcoming wedding venues I can’t wait to gush about.
In June 2018, Lisa & Jason married at Walker’s Overlook in Walkersville, MD. This was my second wedding there, but my first where I have personally known (for over 20 years) the bride! I have known Lisa since she was in early elementary school. Her parents are friends of ours at church; her dad sings in the choir with us! Light rain stopped in plenty of time to have a beautiful ceremony under a magnificent willow tree with my husband, David, officiating. My two daughters helped with the pre-ceremony coordination, and our team of amazing wedding pros helped create a gorgeous reception space. I was honored to be able to provide full-service coordination, and it was truly a special occasion. And, knowing most everyone involved in the planning made it just that much more special!
Fast forward to August with Jennifer and Quinn at the Liriodendron Museum in Bel Air, MD. Jennifer is in the Navy, stationed out of San Diego and was deployed THREE TIMES during the planning — which made for some creative solutions as she often times didn’t have internet access! Quinn is in the Marines and had equally as busy a schedule. Jennifer and Quinn found the venue online and booked sight unseen, trusting me as their Certified Wedding Planner to help find the perfect team for their vision. Though hard to sometimes get everyone together in one place, the wedding day was flawless from start to finish!
Also, in August 2018, sweet couple Nikki & David tied the knot at The Round Barn in Gettysburg, PA. This was my first wedding there, and I’m fairly certain their wedding date was the hottest day of the summer and the venue (though gorgeous) isn’t air conditioned! The ceremony was in a wooded “chapel” with a beautiful view of the countryside as their backdrop. Nikki is part Iranian and they incorporated 2 traditional elements in the ceremony – looking into a mirror for bringing light and brightness into their future, and the sugar ceremony in which happily married women rub sugar cones over a veil to shower the couple in sweetness! Nikki and David didn’t just celebrate their traditions – they also had a moon bounce as part of the reception! Just look at these awesome pictures. pc: Eric Lee Photography
September rounded out my year with Yvonne & Emmanuel. They married at the First Unitarian Church in Baltimore, MD. Their wedding party consisted of 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen and definitely created quite the ceremony! The ladies’ rose blush bridal gowns stood out against Yvonne’s breathtaking gown, and the day was one to remember.
As 2019 begins (can you believe it’s already February?!), we are so excited to be visiting these venues…we’re hoping 2019 brings with it lots of creative, fun, beautiful and detailed weddings. We can’t wait to tell you more about them!
