2023 was another fabulous year for weddings! Here I’d like to share just a little about the venues I worked at in 2023. One of the locations is a waterfront venue – a dream come true for me as I’ve always wanted to coordinate a wedding on the beach!!
New to me venues this year included:
8 Chains North Winery, located outside of Leesburg, VA, is a beautiful wedding venue for a smaller wedding. Weather permitting, you can have a gorgeous vineyard ceremony, and explore the property to find the perfect spots for your newlywed pictures! For your reception, enjoy celebrating with family and friends in the rustic, yet elegant banquet room, complete with a view of the vineyard and the Barrel Room, a stunning sunset, and a delicious selection of 8 Chains North handcrafted wines!
Bowling Brook Manor, in Keymar, MD, is an Historic Mansion that was renovated from a farmhouse in 1872, with a grand ballroom, rooftop patio and elegantly manicured grounds that provide all the options you need to customize your unique event. The mansion has been fully restored with elegant finishes while maintaining the original historic detail and charm. Ceremonies are typically held outside in a tree-covered section of the property. During cocktail hour, your guests can enjoy the inside of the Manor house before heading to the ballroom for the reception! Tents can also be used for those weddings that have larger guest counts.
Chesapeake Bay Foundation, in Annapolis, MD, is a stunning spot for your waterfront wedding! On the bay, the Philip Merrill Environmental Center provides a magical waterfront setting for your special day! Among the world’s greenest buildings, the Merrill Center is surrounded by acres of unspoiled natural beauty. The facility offers extraordinary views of the Chesapeake Bay—both inside and out—that are unmatched by any venue in the area. The Center is fully equipped to handle a wide variety of celebrations — whether you’re planning an elegant and formal, or a casual wedding, the Chesapeake Bay is the perfect backdrop. With floor-to-ceiling windows, a tented deck and a secluded beach, your guests will be enchanted by the simple elegance of their surroundings.
The Great Room at Historic Savage Mill, in Savage, MD, offers a beautiful and romantic setting in the Historic Savage Mill built in 1820. The Great Room features an expansive deck overlooking both the scenic Little Patuxent River and the last standing Bollman Truss semi-suspension bridge in the world. Vaulted ceilings, 14’-high windows, sky lights, and a large dance floor makes the Great Room perfect for any type of event.
The Omni Shoreham, in Washington, DC, is considered one of the finest and most historical Washington DC Wedding Hotels, and offers a romantic setting in the heart of the capital. You can have your ceremony in one of their enchanting ballrooms or opt for an alfresco wedding, surrounded by picture-perfect gardens on the Gazebo Lawn. The Omni provides flexible spaces for any size event, whether it’s a grand reception or a more intimate gathering. The guest rooms reflect old-world charm and beauty!
And, I always love going back to…
The American Visionary Art Musuem in Baltimore, MD, is quite a fun and quirky event space! With multiple options for your ceremony and reception, everything from intimate weddings through guest lists of over 200 can enjoy this unique space. With three spaces to use for your wedding, there are many options to choose from to be sure your guests enjoy a fabulous experience!
The Cloisters Castle, in Lutherville, MD, is settled high on a hill among 60 acres of secluded woods, the Cloisters reflects the beauty and grandeur of medieval Europe, with delicately carved wood, exquisitely detailed stained glass, and ornately designed wrought iron. The castle was designed to highlight an extensive collection of medieval artwork and artifacts, and now this venue is available to showcase your special event. The Cloisters provides options for both inside and outside ceremonies with the reception in the castle.
Good Feelings Farm in Westminster, MD, is a charming 200-year-old farm with plenty of beautiful space to accommodate up to 200 guests. Imagine this – your ceremony under the branches of beautiful oak, maple, and chestnut trees, your cocktail hour at the Paddock (the bottom of the stall barn), and your reception in a tent with a bar made out of an old wagon.
Prosperity Mansion and Farm, in Detour/Keymar, MD, offers everything from large 150+-person weddings to intimate ceremonies and elopements. The property includes an outdoor space for the ceremony, a garden area for the cocktail hour, and a tent for your reception. Sunset pictures are stunning in their field next to the tent!!
Springfield Manor, Thurmont, MD. Located against the Catoctin Mountains, this venue offers an elegant backdrop for your special day! The ballroom seats up to 300 guests, with a large dance floor. The romantic barn is a great space for smaller weddings with a large patio attached from which you can watch the sunset! The terraces and lawns allow the function to flow both indoors and out. Built in 1774, Springfield Manor is an unforgettably prominent historic estate. The Manor also offers 8 sumptuous suites for overnight guests.
If you (or someone you know) are searching for a venue, be sure to visit the websites of these venues for more information! As always, I’m here to help you find the perfect spot for your fabulous wedding or event!
