If you’ve ever been to a wedding and been completely lost and confused on where to go or how to get there, this blog is for you. Today were talking about wedding signage and what kind of signs to include on your big day…and why. Signage can be crucial in showing your guests how to get around without having one million questions for you, your wedding party, and yes, even your planner. There are many weddings I’ve attended where guests have been unsure where to go and this can cause a multitude of issues!
While planners love helping guests, multiple parties of guests stopping and asking questions can cause delays in the timeline which is never good. A simple fix for this is to create signage so your guests know what to do and when. From welcoming guests to telling them what the bar is serving – these ideas will come in handy and create a seamless day for you and your new spouse. You can always get creative and include your wedding colors, style, and even some quotes or décor to make it your own. Let’s dig in!
Welcome: There are many ways to welcome your guests to your wedding. These signs simply help guests know they’ve arrived and they can save your planner (and potentially your guests) a lot of time ensuring they’re in the right place. Often times this is simply a welcome to (couple’s name) wedding, but can also include directions on where to be seated or guide guests toward the ceremony.
Ceremony: This can be anything from guidance on choosing sides, a timeline of events, or even guidance on cell phone usage. Ultimately, what you’d like to include is up to you, but ensuring you’ve shared details can be really helpful and free up any confusion, making your ceremony just a little bit more special and less complicated.
Seating: Seating charts are still very important though escort cards can be forgone depending on the kind of vibe your wedding day has! Even if you are having a casual “sit anywhere you’d like “type of celebration, it’s important to let the guests know what table they’re at once seated and when they can expect dinner.
Bar/Drinks: If you’ve chosen to have an open bar, bar signs can help showcase signature cocktails, introduce many options to your guests, or simply let them know what choice of beer and wine there is.
Goodbyes: At the end of the night, your guests will be tired from dancing and drinking and might be a little confused on when the festivities officially end. Having signage to explain the favor table, and even the final exit event proves very helpful and can show your guests what to do next. I can’t tell you how many wedding favors I’ve seen stand unclaimed at the wedding’s end due to improper signage! This is definitely something I work with my couples on.
While there are many more options for signage, hopefully this article gives you an insight on when to provide helpful directions and guidance. As always, have fun with customization – it is your wedding after all!
Until next time, take care!
