Hello lovely friends!
I hope your July 4th holiday was wonderful and you were able to spend some summer fun time with your loved ones. We enjoyed dinner at a new-to-us restaurant in Fells Point before watching fireworks from our deck!
Today we’re talking about some awesome ways to memorialize your wedding long after the dancing is done. We’re talking about wedding keepsakes!
While there are multiple ways to remember your wedding day, having a tangible reminder can really make an impact and be the perfect way to honor your love together. I’m a big fan of home décor and finding something to hang on the walls of your home or to place on your coffee table that you’ll see each day can be the perfect touch to a lasting reminder of the best day of your lives!
First and foremost, the most popular version of a wedding keepsake is probably the cake! Long ago, most couples kept the top tier of their wedding cake to have in celebration of their one-year anniversary! While some couples have gotten away from this, it’s definitely a fun one! Some bakers will even work with you now to create a fresh cake when your anniversary rolls around so you can save freezer space as well as enjoy a fresh piece of cake when that one-year anniversary arrives! If cakes aren’t your thing (or you opted for a candy bar!), you can always enjoy champagne or spirits out of custom glasses from the night of your wedding. Etched champagne flutes, stemless wine glasses, or even beer steins can add a fun and personalized touch to your shared kitchen and keep the party going long after the evening has ended.
While you’ll certainly have photos, I’ve seen some couples create beautiful works of art with shadow box pieces, photo albums, or photo collages. You can even include your real invitation next to a photo layout of all of your wedding accessories for a special twist!
There has been a growing number of couples using their guest books and turning them into pieces for the home as well. Whether you’d like to remember your guests in a puzzle for game night or hang the customized wooden plaque in your bedroom or by the door, these shared memories can be a really special touch for all involved in your wedding day and will long encourage memories from future guests in your home.
Lastly, and probably my very favorite are your vows. If you’ve chosen to write your own vows or even if they are more classically-themed, these can be printed into beautiful art pieces and hung to remind your spouse what was promised. This heart-touching memento can truly be the sweetest thing to see every day!
I hope these ideas gave you a great start to finding your forever pieces from your wedding. There are literally thousands of ways to remember your day — don’t just limit yourself to one! There are other options not listed here as well including resin floral pieces from your wedding florals (image is of my daughter’s bouquet in a resin tray; message me if you want to know where she got it made!) and/or new dresses made from your wedding gown. The sky is the limit!
When choosing these pieces, just remember to keep yourselves in mind and really personalize these treasures. If you need help preserving the perfect after-wedding designs or even choosing them (and having someone pack them up while you make your getaway), I can help! Contact me today to learn more. I can’t wait to see what we come up with.
