The venue is booked, the flowers are ordered, and the cake is baked! You are well on your way to approaching wedding weekend and while things are hectic, you feel pretty prepared. That is until you realize you’re also headed out for vacation precisely 12 hours after the “I dos”. Never fear!
While there are plenty of lists out there for you on Google, today I want to talk to you about what kind of packing to do so that you are stress-free going into wedding day.
Wedding Day
Wedding day packing is going to look a little different for everyone of course, depending on your vendors booked and packages offered; however, if you’ve opted to do some of the décor, planning, and prep yourself – you’ll need to remember to actually bring those items! This list can include anything from your marriage license to hair and makeup needs. Here’s a quick few items to consider:
Décor: any items not included already with the venue or other contractors, guest books, cake cutter, extras. I also remind my couples to bring their invitations as they make beautiful photos for the photographer!
Wedding Day Needs: powders, safety pins, deodorants, oils, hairbrushes, makeup, medicine, tissues, etc. Anything you think you might need, it’s best to pack it!
Odds and Ends: marriage license(!) (I typically take this the night before so that my couples don’t have to scramble, but this is something that is easily forgotten that you don’t want to have to rush out for!), rings (these are also kind of important!), and any other small items you think you may forget – write them down now! You will have a lot on your mind so even if you are a risk-taker, just being prepared now will cut down on the stress later!
Honeymoon
This list will also be personalized, of course, depending on where you are traveling; however, there are a few things that can be helpful to you when packing for your trip. I advise my couples to pack an overnight bag rather than keep all of their items in their luggage as they would normally. Wedding days are beautiful, but they are also long! The last thing you want to be doing is trying to wrangle a giant suitcase up to your honeymoon suite in your wedding dress or tux. By including some items in a small carry-on bag, you can cut this step in half and get a good night’s sleep before you head out to celebrate your new marriage! This list typically includes:
Overnight needs: toothbrush, toothpaste, hair accessories, makeup wipes, shampoo, conditioner, etc. You’ll be taking off the fanfare from the day and getting comfortable, so anything you can think of that might make that process a little easier.
Clothing: lingerie, pajamas, and a change of clothing for the travel you’ll be doing in the morning.
Odds and Ends: travel tickets, travel needs (perhaps earphones, medication, etc), and anything you like to have on hand when traveling. This is easily forgotten when worried about flowers over airfare, but you’ll want it handy when your wedding day is over!
