Happy December!
I’m sure I say this every year, but how quickly time flies by!
Today, we’re talking about all things sweet treats! Whether you are planning a small, intimate gathering for your wedding or waiting it out to have a huge celebration – you can’t have a celebration without dessert! While a cake is a perfectly suitable dessert for any sweet tooth, you are not bound to this decision! There are lots of unique options for those who would like to spice things up, or just want another option for potential non-cake eaters. Let’s dive in!
According to The Knot 2019 Real Weddings Study, it’s becoming very inventive to have another option at your wedding! From cookies to donuts, 27,000 recently married couples were surveyed and over 61 percent served an alternative wedding dessert! While you can always have your cake and eat it too, there are plenty of options to choose from to make your wedding the sweetest day.
Custom Cookies
These cookies are a great option to show your individuality while also make a statement! Wrapped in cute packaging, they could also serve as a sweet wedding favor when your guests depart for the evening!
Many couples choose to offer a cupcake option. While a cake is certainly the traditional route, having a small wedding cake made can save a little bit of your budget, and cupcakes travel around the dance floor a little easier!

Candy Bar
From personalized M&M’s to perfectly color-coordinated cellophane wrappers, candy bars are for the couple that wants all of the options! You can choose to serve a variety of flavors, textures, and ingredients by choosing this option and can always select the candies that best express you as a couple!
Many bakeries are offering a donut option instead of cake. After all, there ARE cake donuts. Placed on a wooden stand or peg holder and served after drinks and dancing, these brunch-worthy companions are sure to please a crowd. Plus, who doesn’t love donuts?
For the completely out of the box option, choose something that’s more your style! If you pass up the cake on Christmas and choose to make a smooth and velvety cheesecake instead, you may want to consider opting for that when the time comes to say I do. This is a great wedding cake alternative as you can still cut into this, and can be served in miniature bites once cut for your guests to carry and snack on. (pc: Margaret Wrobleski Photography)
If you like your options served with options, consider having an interactive dessert bar. If your venue has a bonfire, s’more bars are a perfect treat to get everyone feeling cozy. If you prefer to top your night off with a frozen dessert variety, an ice cream bar is a perfect way to show your guests a good time! These options are more experience-based as well and you can customize them to offer unique flavors and toppings that your guests are bound to remember. (pictured dessert bar by Starry Night Bakery)
