Hello again and Happy November!
Today, we’re talking about a new-to-me venue that my first 2019 wedding was at! The Christian Life Center in Ijamsville, Maryland, is a venue that is both unique and beautiful. For all of my traditional couples looking for a traditional venue to celebrate your wedding – look no further! The Christian Life Center is a great choice because of their charming past and the traditional values they hold. First, a little history!
Founded in 1974 by Ron and Linda Libby, the congregation met in the “little white church” which still stands today in Rockville, Maryland. As the church grew, the property next door was purchased, and construction of a new building began. The congregation took part in building and prayer, supporting the church’s vision for a great new program. According to the venue’s website, during one meeting held at the Casey Barns Community Center (which hosted the church’s gatherings while the new church was being built), the fire department was called after several surrounding neighbors reported a fire. The fire department proceeded to climb the roof of the building to put out the fire, only to find there was nothing to put out! What a story!
After opening not one, not two, but three buildings in 2005, the church leaders realized they would need a larger building to accommodate the growing congregation and began to search for a new property. In early 2007, Christian Life Center launched a capital campaign to purchase new property which stands today in Ijamsville. As far as location, you can’t go wrong with the quaint town close to Frederick with plenty of hotels and activities to keep your guests busy.
Sophia and Sheldon’s wedding was my first time at this venue and all I can say is WOW! The ceremony was held in their large sanctuary, and the reception in the equally large fellowship hall. If you come from a large family or plan on having many guests attending your big day, this venue can surely accommodate you. The sanctuary was draped in gorgeous fabrics that cascaded and accented the room beautifully.

Sophia and Sheldon are members of the center’s praise band and joined the band members for special music during the ceremony, which added such a personal and sentimental touch to the day. Many guests had to wipe their tears after their performance!
Though the venue does not allow alcohol, one of the best features of this center is that you are able to bring in your own wedding pros. This is where my preferred vendor list comes in to help you choose some wonderful professionals to add to and enhance your day. You can personalize your décor with added drapery, lighting, and additional furniture. This allows you to customize your wedding the way you wish and allows me to coordinate those details flawlessly. I would highly recommend a venue visit to tour this beautiful center. You won’t be disappointed!
